KAMLOOPS – Three outstanding BC athletes have signed with the TRU WolfPack women’s volleyball team, and head coach Carrie Barrett is waiting to hear from two others.
Committed for the 2006/07 season are left side Ashley Koehn of Langley, a 6’0″ scholar from Pacific Academy, which won the Silver Medal at the BC Provincial High School AA Championships.
“She is a terrific student with a 96% average who received Pacific Academy’s Top Student Award in both grade 10 and 11,” said Barrett.
Another honour roll student has also signed with the ‘Pack. All-around student athlete Katrina Beitel, a 5’10” setter from Revelstoke, was MVP at the junior club provincials, Top Female Junior Athlete (2003), All Star BCVA Junior provincials (2003), Level 3 athletic excellence, and is at the top of her class scholastically as well, with an 89% average and a place on the “Top 3rd” honour roll from 2001 to 2005.
Also committed to the ‘Pack is Richelle Walton. The 5’7″ outside hitter, who is currently playing for Malaspina University College, is in 2nd place on the BCCAA stats leader board.
Barrett is still waiting to hear from Laura Battison, a 6’2″ middle from Walnut Grove Secondary who was a 1st-team all star at AAAA Fraser Valley Championships and has been invited to Team BC tryouts in May, and Vanessa Wiebe, a 6’3″ middle from Earl Marriot in Surrey and an excellent scholar with a 3.8 GPA who has beenconditionally accepted to TRU’s Bachelor of Science program.
