Emily Edmundson (2nd year, keeper, Kamloops, BC) has the distinction of becoming the first WolfPack athlete to be named a PAC WEST player of the week. She garnered the award for her performance in matches between September 19-25 th.
Here is the write up from PAC WEST:
“In the past several years, UBCO has risen in stature to challenge TRU for regional dominance. Last
weekend saw the Heat travel to Kamloops only to lose 2-1 to the WolfPack. This past weekend, TRU
made the return trip to Kelowna. In a hard fought battle, TRU and UBCO would end up in a 1-1 draw.
In the 1st half of the game, goalkeeper Emily Edmundson made some excellent saves however in the
2nd half, with the Wolfpack going through a bit of a lull, the Heat generated numerous scoring
chances. McManus praised his goalkeeper as she made some great saves. “She was phenomenal and
made some superb saves, especially one late off UBCO’s Lindsey Briggs”, which was going towards the
corner of the net. Briggs broke down the left side for her chance but Edmondson got a piece of it to keep it out of the goal.
In back-to-back weekend games vs UBCO, Edmundson helped her team steal 4 out of 6 points against
their Interior rivals. Next up for the Wolfpack is a homestand vs Vancouver Island University and
Capilano University on October 1st and 2nd. Both visitors sit tied for top spot in Women’s Group B
Division. A favourable result for TRU next weekend will create a very interesting race for a playoff
berth as we head into the second half of the season. Kick off this weekend is 2 pm at Hillside Stadium
