The University of British Columbia Okanagan Heat have for years, wanted to emulate the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s volleyball program. On Friday night (Feb 10),the Heat took a step in that direction.
The Heat have been pattering themselves after the WolfPacks success in the early stages of their CIS history. In their first year, UBCO is on the verge of making the post season and on this night, downed the WolfPack 3-0. The scores were 25-16,25-23,25-18. This defeat was the fifth in a row for Pat Hennelly’s crew.
“We had some momentum in the second set but passing down the stretch was a problem,” Hennelly explained afterwards. “ UBCO played well and used the momentum for their crowd.”
The stands at the UBCO gym were nearly filled: it was an experience the Heat have faced the last few years when they have come to Kamloops in the fall for exhibition matches. Usually, the Tournament Capital Centre has over a thousand people in it to watch them play.
