Brent Pound of the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack is in contention after the opening round of the 2013 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Golf Nationals. Pound shot a one under par 71 on the Royal Quebec Golf and Country Club.
” He played well start to finish,” said WolfPack head coach Bill Bilton Junior, who is attending the Nationals as well. “He rolled the ball nice and hit it solid all day. We picked the wrong club on one tee shot that left us in a tough angle to the pin but all in all, a good start. He had a good practice session afterwards.”
Two Ontario Golfers: Colton Kalkanis of Georgian College and Humber College’s Alex Dumais share the lead with 68’s. That is one shot ahead of Darren Whitehouse of the University of the Fraser Valley.
Four golfers are tied at two under par 70. They are Aaron Pauls of Fraser Valley, Brennan Smith of St Lawrence College, Scott Benzoni of Humber College and Niagara College’s Evan Littlefield.
The Championship continues tomorrow and wraps up on Friday (Oct 18).
