Two members of the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack will be going to the 2014 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Badminton Championships.
The women’s doubles duo of Anica Arduini (5th year, Kamloops, BC) and Lacey Banman (3rd year, Kamloops, BC) will be part of the BC Wildcard team at the CCAA championships in Edmonton, Alberta later this month.
The team finished with the bronze medal this past weekend at the PACWEST championships at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. But when the gold medal winners from Langara declined the invite to go to Nationals, the WolfPack team gladly stepped up.
Arduini and Banman weren’t the only medal winners at the PACWEST finals. Player/coach Alex Perkin (5th year, Kamloops,BC) also captured a bronze. His came in men’s singles.
Other results saw Nathan McNeilly (1st year, Salmon Arm, BC) and Erika Dufort (2nd year, Brighton,ON) finishing fourth in mixed doubles. Joel Feenstra (1st year, Salmon Arm, BC) and Anthony Arduini (1st year, Kamloops, BC) wound up fourth in men’s doubles.
Ali Hines (1st year, Kamloops, BC) was fourth in women’s singles.
