The first day of the 2014 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association badminton nationals were not one to remember for a pair of players from Thompson Rivers University

Anica Arduini (5th year, Kamloops, BC) and Lacey Banman (3rd year, Kamloops, BC) find themselves winless after their first three matches.

The two are part of the PACWEST Wildcard team.

They opened up with a 21-7,21-6 defeat at the hands of the OCAA champs from Mohawk College: Victoria Hall and Kim Lim. That was followed by a 21-9,21-7 setback to the Alberta College Athletic Association champs from NAIT: Jessica Yu and Powlin Lau.

The third match of the day was a 21-5,21-5 setback to Carol Delacerna and Katie Liu of the OCAA number two team. That duo is from Seneca College.

The round robin portion of the event wraps up on Friday (Feb 28). It is being hosted by the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.
