It’s a fifth place finish for the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack representatives at the 2014 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association badminton nationals.
The duo of Anica Arduini (5th year, Kamloops, BC) and Lacey Banman (3rd year, Kamloops, BC) wound up the round robin of the women’s doubles competition with a win and a loss. That gave them an overall record of a win and five defeats.
On Friday (Feb 28), Arduini and Banman opened with a three set loss to the PACWEST Champions from Kwantlen Polytechnic University: Willne Kwee and Alisa Young. The scores were 21-10,18-21,20-22.
They then finished off their tournament with a straight set win over the ACAA duo of Sunwen Metler and Kristen Visser from Mount Allison University. The scores were 21-10,21-13.
The Championships wind up Saturday (Mar 1) with the medal round. Banman and Arduini, making their first trip to nationals will not compete.
The CCAA nationals are being hosted by the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.
