The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s volleyball team will have three current or former members of their organization in Gatineau, Quebec over the next few weeks. They will be trying out for the Canadian senior “B” and National Junior teams.
Alumna Colin Carson (Prince George, BC) is one of seven setters vying for the “B” team which is coached by Georges Laplante. Carson spent last season playing professionally in Denmark after graduating from TRU in 2013-14.
Another player trying out for that team is Casey Knight (Salt Spring Island, BC). Knight recently graduated from TRU and was one of the top left sides in the Canada West. He is one of 12 prospects at that position at the tryout camp, which began on Wednesday .
The National “B” team will train in Gatineau all summer and compete at the Pan Am Cup in the United States from August 9-17 th.
The other WolfPack player vying for a spot on a National team is Jordan Foot (Prince George, BC). Foot has just finished his second season at middle for the WolfPack. He is listed by Volleyball Canada as one of 16 players vying for a spot on the left side.
He will be heading to the National Training Centre in Gatineau next Wednesday (May 6) to vye for a spot on the junior national team. That squad is coached by John Barrett.
The national junior team will compete at the U-21 World championship in Mexico from Sept 11-20. Before that, they will go to Gwangju, South Korea to compete in the 2015 World Universaide from July 3-14 th.
