WolfPack Men’s Basketball Set to Run 2nd Annual Kelly Olynyk Basketball Academy

With an eye to increasing the popularity and number of children playing basketball in the Kamloops region, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack are gearing up to host the second year of the Kelly Olynyk Basketball Academy.

The Academy runs weekends and is designed for boys and girls from K-grade 7. The focus of the KOBA is to develop core basketball skills, while teaching teamwork in a positive sports environment.

The program is set up that youngsters in grades four to seven will go 9 am to noon on Saturday’s at the Tournament Capital Centre. Youngsters in kindergarten through to grade three are set for 9am-10 am on Sunday’s at the TRU Gym.

Cost is 150 dollars for the older group. Youngsters in the k-grade 3 set are 100 dollars.

The older group is more of a ‘house’ league where boys and girls play a game each week for an hour after working for 90 minutes on skills.

The Kelly Olynyk Basketball Academy will be run by former WolfPack player now current assistant coach Volodymyr Iegorov with the assistance of TRU players.
