It’s the first test of the season for the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack swim team.
The swim team is off to Penticton this weekend for the KISU Triple Pentathlon.
The event begins Friday (Oct 13) and runs until Sunday (Oct 15).
“We will be taking a team of 11 swimmers to the meet,” says WolfPack head coach Brad Dalke. “The team will be six women and five men.”
Dalke says Nolan Paul (Mission, BC) and Joelle Young (Fort McMurray, AB) have been impressing him in training and he expects both to have big performances in Penticton this weekend.
The Swimmers will compete in the 100’s (backstroke, breaststroke, fly and freestyle) along with the 200 meter IM on Friday. Saturday will see the 200’s (backstroke, breaststroke, fly and freestyle) take place along with the 400 meter IM. Sunday’s races will be the 50’s (backstroke, breaststroke, fly and freestyle) and the 100 meter IM take place.
This event is the first of five meets before the end of the semester. “The short term goal is to be within three per cent of the swimmers life time best with an ultimate goal of hitting our Canada West time standards.”
