After winning twice on Saturday night, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack baseball team did the same thing on Sunday against the Vancouver Island Baseball Institute Mariners. The ‘Pack took game one 9-6 and game two 4-0.

Veteran Regan Gillis (Fort McMurray, AB) got the start on the bump in game one. He tossed 5.1 innings, allowing four runs (all unearned) on eight hits. He walked one batter and struck out one batter. Josh Snider (Moses Lake, WA) received the win in relief, tossing 2.2 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit and three hit by pitches. He also struck out three batters. Bryant Jameus (Kamloops, BC) recorded the save in the ninth.

Offensively, Liam Rihela (White Rock, BC) had a big game as he went 1-4 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored. Right after Rihela’s double, which brought in two runs and gave the ‘Pack the lead, Vance Fode (Bow Island, AB) stepped up to the plate and crushed a two-run homerun to put the game away. Jackson Dartnell (Winnipeg, MB) went 1-3 with a two-RBI double. Adam Filmon (Winnipeg, MB) had a perfect day at the plate in game one. He finished 2-2 with two runs scored, two walked and a RBI sacrifice fly. Matt Pidlisecky (Abbotsford, BC) went 1-4 with a RBI and a run scored. Cole Paquin (Regina, SK) went 2-4 with a double and two runs scored. Zac Comeault (Pitt Meadows, BC) went 2-4 while Connor McKenzie (Kamloops, BC) went 1-3 with a run scored and a walk.

Dillon Ferguson (Kirkland, WA) started the second game for the ‘Pack and craved the VIBI batters. He tossed seven shutout innings while striking out 11 batters. Qwinn Nesplak (White Rock, BC) threw the eighth inning and only allowed one hit while Cole Paquin threw a perfect ninth.

Vance Fode provided the power again in game two with a solo homerun. He also brought in a run on a groundout. Nick Bolt (Brooks, AB) drove in the other two WolfPack runs with a two-RBI single in the second inning. Adam Filmon went 1-4 with a triple, a walk and a run scored. Josh Iannetti (Fort McMurray, AB) went 1-2 with a double, a run scored, a walk and he was hit by a pitch. Matt Pidlisecky, Josh Snider and Zac Comeault all went 1-3. Snider scored a run. Liam Rihela went 1-4.

The WolfPack will take their momentum from this weekend into next weekend as they head to Lethbridge for their second weekend against the Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs.
