After a tough weekend, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack baseball team had to have a quick memory as they were back in action on Wednesday. They welcomed the Okanagan College Coyotes to town, who came in with a 10 game win streak. The ‘Pack stopped their streak though by taking the first game 3-2. They would drop game two, 6-5 in 10 innings.
Tyler Hodder (Fort McMurray, AB) got the nod for the ‘Pack in game two and had his best start of the season. He got the win, throwing eight innings, giving up two runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out eight batters. Bryant Jameus (Kamloops, BC) got the hold while Scott Wood (Stratford, ON) collected the save in the win.
Josh Hillis (Calgary, AB) came to play in game one as he led off the bottom of the first inning with his first career CCBC home run. He drove in another run on a single and would finish 3-4. He also scored a run. Liam Rihela (White Rock, BC) went 2-3 with a walk. Josh Snider (Moses Lake, WA) went 1-4.
Tyler Moskalyk (Thunder Bay, ON) started game two and pitched well again for the ‘Pack, despite getting the no decision. He tossed seven innings, giving up four runs on 13 hits while striking out 11 batters. Bryant Jameus got the loss, giving up two runs (one earned) on two hits and four walks. He struck out six batters.
Vance Fode (Bow Island, AB) stayed got in game two, going 3-3. Cole Paquin (Regina, SK) went 2-5 with two RBIs. Josh Snider went 3-4 with a walk. Liam Rihela went 2-5 with two doubles and a run scored. Josiah Williams (Cloverdale, BC) went 2-6 with a run scored and Josh Hillis went 1-4 with a run scored. Five different WolfPack players each collected a stolen base.
The WolfPack have a short turnaround again as they head to Calgary on Friday for a four game series with the University of Calgary Dinos. The two teams will play on Friday at 6pm, 1pm and 4pm on Saturday and finish up by playing once at 11am on Sunday morning.
