After going 2-2 in Calgary last weekend, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack baseball team were back on the road today as they made a day trip to Kelowna to take on the Okanagan College Coyotes. The two teams played a doubleheader in which game one counted towards the regular season and game two was an exhibition game. The ‘Pack lost the game that counted by the score of 9-7 and won the exhibition game 14-3.


In game one, Tyler Moskalyk (Thunder Bay, ON) got the start and threw very well like he has all season long. The right-hander tossed seven innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits and four walks but struck out 11 batters. Qwinn Nesplak (White Rock, BC) threw 2/3 of an inning, allowing four runs on a hit and three walks. Bryant Jameus (Kamloops, BC) allowed two runs on a hit, a walk and a hit batter in 1/3 of an inning.


Offensively, Josh Snider’s (Moses Lake, WA) hot streak continued as he went 3-4 with two doubles, four RBIs, a run scored and a walk. Cole Paquin (Regina, SK) finished 2-4 with a solo homerun. He also collected another RBI on a sacrifice fly. Josh Iannetti (Fort McMurray, AB) went 2-4 with a run scored. Zac Comeault (Pitt Meadows, BC) went 1-4 and also scored. Adam Filmon (Winnipeg, MB) had a single in the ninth and scored a run in the first inning. Josh Hillis (Calgary, AB) and Liam Rihela (White Rock, BC) both scored a run and walked twice. Hillis also collected a RBI. Matt Pidlisecky (Abbotsford, BC) walked three times and was hit by a pitch. Malik James (Toronto, ON) collected a base hit.


In the exhibition game, Jack Suhai (Medicine Hat, AB) started on the mound. He tossed three hitless innings, walking four batters and striking out four batters. Joe Siniscalchi (Burnaby, BC) got the win, also throwing three innings. He allowed two runs (one earned) on a hit and three walks. He also struck out four batters. Cole Paquin threw two innings, only allowing a hit and had two strikeouts. Jordy Cunningham (Ladner, BC) allowed a run in the ninth on two hits and struck out a batter.


Jackson Dartnell (Winnipeg, MB) had a huge day with the bat. He went 3-4 with two doubles, six RBIs, three runs scored and a walk. Justin Beaumont (Winnipeg, MB) went 3-3 with two RBIs. Josiah Williams (Cloverdale, BC) finished the game 2-2 with a RBI, three runs scored and a walk. Lucas Lott (Kamloops, BC) had a RBI single and a run scored. Michael Bauer (Surrey, BC) hit a triple and a run scored, finishing 1-2. Brad Bitz (Calgary, AB) and Kyron Smith (Maple Ridge, BC) each went 1-2 with a double, a walk and two runs scored. BItz collected a RBI. Rhys McKenzie (Kamloops, BC) went 1-6 with a run scored. Jacob Bromley (Cranbrook, BC) collected a RBI on a bases-loaded walk.


The WolfPack will be back in action this weekend for their final weekend of the regular season. They welcome the Vancouver Island Baseball Institute Mariners to town for four games. They will play at 4pm and 7pm on Saturday, May 5th and 10am and 1pm on Sunday, the 6th. Catch all the action at Norbrock Stadium.
