The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s volleyball team went .500 in their opening weekend of exhibition play.

The ‘Pack were hosting the always tough Trinity Western University Spartans on Friday and Saturday night (Sept 22-23).

On Friday, the Spartans beat the WolfPack in three straight sets. The scores were 25-21,25-17,26-24.

TRU came back on Saturday to take Trinity Western in four. The scores were 25-20,21-25,25-23,26-24. Thompson Rivers was led in this match by Charlie Bringloe (4th year, outside hitter, Waterloo, ON) with 22 points. Tim Dobbert (5th year, outside hitter, Aichelberg, Germany) had 21 points.

WolfPack head coach Pat Hennelly said, “They were both solid. Tim Edge (5th year, outside hitter, Langley, BC) was strong with his passing, blocking and serving as well. Sam Taylor Parks (4th year, middle, Kelowna, BC) had a solid night with 15 points.”

He added. “ Overall, every starter was good. Kyle Behiels (4th year, middle, Edmonton, AB) and Landon Currie (2nd year, libero, Vernon, BC) had good efforts. It took awhile to get the offense rolling but Anton (Napolitano, 3rd year, middle, Victoria, Australia) hit his stride in the second set. Trinity was resting starters who played this summer but we executed very well in the pass and serve department. This was and is our major goal this year.”

The WolfPack continue their preseason with a tournament at UBCO in Kelowna, BC next weekend (Sept 28-30).
