ABBOTSFORD, BC—The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s soccer team have suffered another set back on the road. Playing their final Canada West regular season match away from Hillside Stadium, Thompson Rivers wound up on the short end of a 3-1 decision to the University of Fraser Valley Cascades. The match on Saturday (Sept 29) was the conclusion of a home and home series between the teams.
Fraser Valley had earlier beaten TRU 1-0 in Kamloops.
Andrew Peat of the Cascades led the way for his side at the MRC Spors Complex as he had his first multi goal match scoring twice. Gurmann Jhag of UFV also scored as he extended his goal scoring streak to six matches. He leads the Canada West goal scoring race with 10.
TRU’s marker came from Thomas Lantmeeters (4th year, midfield,Genk, Belguim) on a penalty kick in the 10th minute.
TRU led the match 1-0. The teams were tied at one at half time with Fraser Valley scoring twice in the second half. The WolfPack finished with a record of 0-4-2 away from home.
Thompson Rivers were down to 10 men in the 78 th minute after Khalifa Fanne(4th year, midfield, Tours, France) picked up his second yellow card.
Fraser Valley won both their matches this weekend after taking UBCO 5-1 on Friday (Sept 28)
