WolfPack Cross Country Compete in Victoria

—Runners from the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack cross-country team finished in the 20’s in their respective races at the UVIC Invitational. The race was held Saturday (Oct13).

The men raced 10 kilometers while the women ran 8 kilometers.

In the men’s race, Calum Carrigan (1st year, Kamloops, BC) finished 27 th in a time of 36;35. That’s just ahead of Troy Morgan (Hythe, AB) who was 28 th. He finished 13 seconds behind Carrigan (36:48)

Sam Dyck (3rd year, Tswwassen, BC) was the next WolfPack runner in. He was 30 th in a time of 27:39. Liam McGrath (2nd year, Vernon, BC) was 33rd at 38:21. That was 13 seconds faster than Jasper Martin (1st year, Whitehorse,YT) (38:44) who wound up 34 th.
Etienne Lavigne (2nd year, Russell,ON) was 36 th in a time of 40:55.

The race was won by Nick Colyn of Trinity Western University in a time of 31:30

In the women’s race, the top TRU finisher was Kendra Murray (3rd year, Whitehorse, YT) who was 24 th in a time of 34 minutes and 20 seconds. Zoe Painter (2nd year, Whitehorse, YT) was 28th in a time of 35:19.

Other TRU finishers were Erica Johnson (2nd year, Abbotsford, BC) who found up 31st in a time of 37 minutes. Brooklyn Higgs (1st year, Squamish, BC) was 22 rd in 38:12 while Sophie Ogilvie (1st year, Kamloops, BC) wound up 35 th in a time of 42:53.

The women’s race was captured by Alison Irvine of UVIC in a time of 29:49.

The WolfPack have a week off before preparing for the BC Cross Country Championships. The USPORTS Nationals will be held in Ontario in November.
