—The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women’s basketball team have opened up their final exhibition tournament with a defeat.
The Pack are in Edmonton, Alberta where they dropped a 59-41 decision to the host University of Alberta Pandas.

“We had a very bad second quarter in terms of our offense,” said WolfPack head coach Scott Reeves. “ In terms of our defense we played well as a team. But we couldn’t hit any shots. When you can’t hit shots on the road, the home team gets some energy. Unfortunately we didn’t have it tonight”.

The Pandas outscored the WolfPack 16-3 in that second quarter after taking a 16-13 first quarter lead.
TRU did outscore the Pandas 8-6 in the fourth quarter.

The WolfPack were led by Michelle Bos (5th year, guard, Surrey, BC) with 11 points. Leilani Carney (4th year, guard, Burnaby, BC) and Jordon Haggerty (2nd year, guard, Saskatoon, SK) each had nine points a piece.

Alberta was led by Megan Tywoniuk with 15 points.

The WolfPack close out the tournament and their exhibition campaign with a game on Sunday (Oct 21) against the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns. TRU opens its 2018-19 Canada West regular season next Friday (Oct 26) on the road in Abbotsford, BC against the University of Fraser Valley Cascades. Their first home game is November 9th on the Warner Rentals court at the Tournament Capital Centre against the Victoria Vikes. Tip off is 5 pm.
