WolfPack men’s basketball fall to Northwestern University in exhibition

The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s basketball team got in a little exhibition action during their bye week from Canada West play.
The Pack went to Kirkland, Washington on Saturday (Nov 3) to play the Northwest University Eagles , an NAIA school.

Thompson Rivers fell 97-89. The teams were tied at 42 at half time. The Eagles out scored TRU 55-47 in the second half.

TRU was led by Derek Rhodes (5th year forward, Antioch, CA0 with 17 points in 31 minutes of floor time. Anton Bilous (4th year, guard, Cherkassy, Ukraine) had with 17 points.

Joe Davis (4th year, forward, Kamloops, BC) chipped in with 15 points, eight rebounds (seven on defense) and two steals in 31 minutes while Enrico Nuno (4th year, forward, Half Moon Bay, CA) had 9 points, seven rebounds (five on defense) in 21 minutes on the floor.

“We struggled to defend in the second half, “said head coach Scott Clark. “ It is very hard to win on the road when you give up 55 points. We have to figure it out in a hurry as we return to league play.”

Northwest University’s top scorers were Hussayn Ford with 27 points while Josh Meyer chipped in with 21.

The WolfPack scored 17 points of turnovers compared to Northwest Univeristy’s 14. Both had 12 second chance points.

Thompson Rivers returns to league play on Friday, November 9th. It is their home opener on the Warner Rentals court at the Tournament Capital Centre. Their opposition will be the University of Victoria Vikes. Tip off will be 7 pm.
