The 2018 CCBC championships started on Thursday at Norbrock Stadium in Kamloops. The hosts, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack played two games on Thursday. They los their first game to the University of Fraser Valley Cascades 12-5 and beat the Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs 4-0.
Tyler Hodder (Fort McMurray, AB) got the start in game one and suffered the loss. He tossed eight innings, giving up eight runs (two earned) on 11 hits, one walk and three hit batters. He also struck out three batters. Bryant Jameus (Kamloops, BC) threw one inning, giving up four runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks.
Designated hitter Vance Fode (Bow Island, AB) went 2-2 with three RBIs and three walks. Josh Snider (Moses Lake, WA) went 3-5 with a double and two RBIs. Liam Rihela (White Rock, BC) finished 3-4 with a double, two runs scored and a walk. Josh Hillis (Calgary, AB) went 1-5 with a run scored. Malik James (Toronto, ON) and Zac Comeault (Pitt Meadows, BC) each went 1-4 with a run scored. Adam Filmon (Winnipeg, MB) and Connor McKenzie (Kamloops, BC) both went 1-5. McKenzie’s hit was a double.
Tyler Moskalyk (Thunder Bay, ON) started game two and pitched like he did all season. He tossed a complete game shutout, allowing only six hits and striking out 13 batters.
Josh Hillis got the offense started against PBA with a solo homerun in the third inning. Adam Filmon went 2-5 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored. Josiah Williams (Cloverdale, BC) went 1-2 with a run scored. Jackson Dartnell (Winnipeg, MB) and Matt Pidlisecky (Abbotsford, BC) each had a base hit.
